EXCITING NEWS FROM THE GALWAY COMEDY FESTIVAL
Exciting developments announced for the annual Galway Comedy Festival! Firstly, there is the welcome addition of a new title sponsor, Vodafone, as well as a brand new name ‘Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway’. The same festival team join forces with Vodafone to bring you the same high standards you expect from Galway comedy excellence.
The 2014 festival will expand to include a full 12 days and 2 weekends of stand-up, theatre, improvisation and spoken-word comedy, from Thursday 16th to Monday 27th October. The extensive and eclectic programme will feature the very best of Irish and international comedy - both established as well as emerging talent.
Venues of varying levels of intimacy will be used throughout the city including, for the first time, the iconic, world famous Spiegeltent ‘Paradiso’. This stunning 500 capacity venue is a 1930’s European wooden tent featuring a luxurious interior including unique mirrors, leaded glass plus a lush velvet and brocade finish. It must be seen to be believed and will bring a magical air to the city, surrounded by its very own comedy village.
Festival Director, Kevin Healy announced "We are delighted to welcome our new title sponsor, Vodafone and to announce our new dates, making this our most ambitious programme so far. We also want to thank our supporters at Failte Ireland, Galway City Council and Diageo for helping to make the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway possible and look forward to welcoming great comedians and comedy fans to the West this October."

The Comedy Carnival Galway has a growing reputation amongst comedians and audiences making it an increasingly popular destination for comedy fans at home and abroad. This year’s expanded programme plus the addition of the fabulous Speigeltent will mean that over 18,000 people will be able to enjoy comedy in Galway, copper fastening its special place amongst Europe’s top comedy events.
The festival provides local, national and – increasingly - international audiences with an opportunity to experience Galway in a very special way.
