Marlon Williams has announced two intimate shows this December to launch his new band Marlon Williams & The Yarra Benders. In Melbourne he will play the epitome of a hometown show on Saturday December 6th at the Yarra Hotel (Williams recently moved in upstairs) and on Wednesday December 10th he will play at The Vanguard in Sydney. Sydney supports are fellow Kiwi and recent Spunk signing Aldous Harding alongside local lad Andy Golledge.
2014 has been quite a year for Williams, who this week finishes a 10-date tour with Justin Townes Earle and Lindi Ortega. He has been announced on line ups for Meredith, Queenscliff, Port Fairy, Mullumbimby, Jamgrass and AWME, having already performed at Darwin and Brisbane Festivals, alongside one of the most talked about showcases at Big Sound in September. Williams featured on SBS' Rockwiz in May, and was invited by TEDx Sydney to perform at their annual event at the Sydney Opera House in April.
In the past week, Billboard Magazine put him on top of their "14 New Zealand Acts You Need To Know About" list, saying "expect to see and hear a lot more from this man with the voice of an angel".
These shows will be a rare chance to see Williams in his favourite small venues, before he launches his debut solo album in February next year.
