5 ACTS, ONE NIGHT
THE UPBEATS
With a decade of experience in the music game they have released three critically lauded albums (with a fourth in the works) and countless singles on some of the most respected drum and bass record labels in the world.
Known for their skills at constructing both digital pub rock anthems for the club and genuinely emotional home listening material - their musicality has seen them collaborate with or remix for the likes of Ed Rush and Optical, Noisia, Bad Company, Hive, Gridlock, Bulletproof, TREi, State of Mind, Shapeshifter and MSTRKRFT.
Along the way they've performed extensively across New Zealand, Australia, North America, Europe and the UK building a loyal audience worldwide. Favouring an anything goes DJ style, their performances regularly trigger mosh pits, crowd surfing, topless dancers, on-stage acrobatics and even once, dual zorb surfing at a capacity paint rave.
KASRA
Kasra founded the Critical Music label, a drum and bass label based in London that is widely regarded as being at the forefront of the modern underground scene. A passionate curator and DJ, he has grown the label from humble beginnings to one of the most respected imprints in the genre. Expect a very deep, technical set from this man, a true powerhouse on the decks.
SAM BINGA
Sam Binga has placed himself firmly at the centre of this new wave, with releases on some of dance music’s most respected underground labels – 50 Weapons, Exit and Critical. His sound spans the anthemic rowdiness of tracks like ‘AYO’ and ‘Lef Dem’, to the deeper explorations of his collaborations with Om Unit, and has attracted the attention of artists such as Zed Bias and CHVRCHES – who have both hit him up for remix work – and Kode9, who featured his tune ’11th’ with Addison Groove on his critically acclaimed Rinse CD.
CHIMPO
Bass music legend Chimpo's musical style defies genre boundaries. Both his dj sets and productions see him fuse grime, drum n bass, dubstep, trap, garage, dancehall and hip hop to create a unique sound that never fails to destroy dancefloors. A seasoned DJ, producer and MC, Chimpo's career has seen him tour the world, find fans in many of his heroes and officially remix legends such as Wu Tang Clan, Zed Bias and Omar.
KLAX
Klax emerged from the thriving Brighton drum and bass scene in 2014. The trio quickly gained prominence with a debut DnB release on Renegade Hardware called ëVendettaí. This forward thinking track caught the ears of several taste-makers in the scene, including Foreign Concept who enlisted them for a collab on his next EP on Critical. The fruit of this joint effort, ëAsk Yourselfí, quickly garnered huge support and was much applauded for it’s musicality and boundary pushing sentiment. Following this, the trio delivered a three tracker for Critical’s digital offshoot Binary, the lead track of which shot to the top three in Beatport’s DnB charts.
RISE
Rise started as a simple idea between two mates. We wanted more Drum & Bass in Swansea, but mainly Drum & Bass that hadn’t been done here before. This led to us organising our first event where we brought Kove to Sin City. What we thought would be a fairly quiet start to our brand turned in to the club hitting capacity and having 700 ravers skanking until the lights came on.With this immediate success, we knew we couldn’t stop there.
3 years later, we’ve brought down some of the biggest names in the scene, from High Contrast to Dub Phizix. We’ve given support to local DJs, worked with clothing brands and various artists from around Wales.
