You will be the first one to know when pictures are uploaded!
2016 has been the deadliest year on record for trans people. When trans people, and especially trans women of colour, are killed just for existing – it is clear something needs to change.
Join us outside the Union for a vigil to commemorate those we have lost, this will be followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A. The night will end with a trans only space offering a free film screening of the Matrix, badge making, and of course some cake.
We are taking this opportunity to remember all those who have been unlawfully killed this year. We will remember the countless young trans people who have died from suicide. We will stand in solidarity with the 48% of young trans people who have attempted suicide. We will stand together to condemn violence against trans people.
Times:
5:30pm: Vigil outside LUU
6pm - 6:45pm: Discussion about the experiences of and violence against trans people of colour Room 5
6:45pm – 9pm: Trans-only space: films, crafts, and cake Room 5
