J STAR

Jstar hails from West London and in 2003, started an underground label delivering DJ tools and “get out of jail card remixes“ (DJ Kava) in the form of reggae remixes on 7” vinyl. Such classics as ‘No Diggity’ (5 –star rating in Mixmag), ‘DWYCK’ Wooh-Ha’ had the Jstar remix treatment and he went on to officially remix DJ Vadim, Madness, Ari Up (Slits), Mark Ronson (early Amy Winehouse reggae versions were discussed!), The Black Seeds, The Resonators, and heaps more…

His releases were picked up top DJs like Sir Norman Jay, Francois K, David Rodigan, Grandmaster Flash, John Peel, Benji B, Oneman, Diplo, Mr Benn and Shepdog.

Airplay came from UK’s Radio 1 DJs Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, Don Letts, Robbo Ranx, Trevor Nelson (even daytime!), XFM, Kiss100, Red Bull Music Academy, FM4 (Austria), Radio Nova (France) Radio Eins (Germany) and many US independent stations.

For the first few years, there was no contact details and not even Jstar knew who he was.

Spikey T

Spikey Tee was a founding member of UK hiphop group Syndicut in the late 1980's. He had cut his teeth as an MC on Sound systems in Tottenham in 80s . Then he became Jah Wobble's MC for live performances
He went on to represent Blood & Fire Sound system, touring constantly with Dennis Alcapone & U Brown. Later meeting and working with Mr Scruff, Mark Rae (Rae & Christian) & Bomb the Bass

(I knew him at that time, though I had heard & bought his "Paper Soldier" track with Manasseh)

He moved to Australia about 10 years ago and started work with Sola Rosa from New Zealand, who also had platinum albums out there
He has recorded with DJ Hype, Ritual, Isaac Maya, Rido, Def Wish Cast, Noise Shaper
Currently he is also touring MC for Africa Hi Tek (Marc Pritchard), and recently was MC for LTJ Bukem in Asia
