CARTER EDWARDS

Years ago Carter decided that he didn’t want to be “just another singer”. Carter holds his audience with a raucous and typically Australian humour that involves the audience all the way, with songs, funny stories, and original gimmicks. Carters onstage magic is his ability to entertain and have fun with an audience, just to “make ‘em feel good!”

He won consecutive Mo Awards for The Most Versatile Entertainer in Australia and he was nominated (5 times) consecutively, as Australia’s Entertainer of the Year. He was a regular guest star on T.V.New Zealand’s “That’s Country”. With a reputed regular American audience of 20 million viewers on cable TV every Sunday for 7 years. From that show he wrote and starred in a New Zealand TV Special called “CER” that rated 1.5 million viewers. In 1980 he was invited to perform in a Royal Command Performance at the Sydney Opera House.

He started on Radio 2HD Newcastle in 1989 with “Carter Edwards Country” which dominated the ratings for 20 years. He was later inducted into the Australian Country Music Broadcasters Hall Of Fame. Since then his radio career has moved into top gear with “The Carter Edwards Show”, broadcast around the Super Radio Network Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6 pm until midnight, featuring music and talkback. In his first year the ratings went from 14% of the listening audience to 66%.

Possibly the most amazing single factor in the sparkling success story of this incredibly versatile entertainer is that he never really intended a career in show business! So far Carter Edwards has done well over 9,000 live shows in the years he has been a performer, and he’s still in constant demand, working better than ever and going from strength to strength!
