Yes people… he’s back! After his sell out gig last year, HiFi’s favourite purveyor of French beats returns on Friday 24th October to make our bodies tingle yet again!
With an eclectic arsenal of samples and an ear for international sounds, Onra has staked his claim as one of the most exciting beat-makers of the past few years and thanks to releases like his 'Chinoseries' collections, the acclaimed 'Long Distance' LP and the more recent releases of the squiggly Disco synthed ‘Deep in the Night’ EP and his collaborative Jazz album with composer Buddy Sativa, under the name of Yatha Bhuta Jazz Combo in 2013, he has garnered much respect from the electronic music community as well as notable figures like Diplo and A-Trak.
Onra’s most notable success is the 'Chinoiseries' collections, where, he integrated 30 Chinese and Vietnamese records from the 60s and 70s into a 32-track masterpiece full of seamless layering and rich textures that combine both Western and Eastern flavours. Check out 'The Anthem' and hear deep-rooted influences à la J Dilla that elevates mere sampling into urban nostalgic art. This song, in fact, became so popular that Coca-Cola picked it up and used it in a commercial for the 2008 Beijing Olympics featuring Lebron James and Yao Ming.
Reminiscent of crate-diggers like Madlib and DJ Shadow, Onra peppers his beats with funk, blues, electronica, woozy and moody ambient & 80’s R&B through hip-hop rhythms and his live MPC performances – everywhere from the Red Bull Music Academy in Bucharest and Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival, to LA’s down-and-dirty bass sanctuary the Low End Theory – has been electrifying audience around the world and add a new dimensions to the cosmic grooves Onra puts on tape.
Get ready to dance! Hard!

Bambooman
Hailing from Yorkshire, the Leeds based Bambooman constantly has his fingers dipped in a lot of concurrent projects. The Sonic Router signed producer keeps his creative self fed, producing tracks for vocalists and collaborating under various guises whilst writing his own material. His two EPs for Sonic Router (the latest of which, Dulcet, was released earlier this year) outline his strikingly clean but intricately layered production style perfectly and his deft production touch was captured and widely commended on London vocalist Segilola’s serene debut EP for King Deluxe, Somewhere Along The Line.
Working a lot with found textures, field recordings and weird FXs, Bambooman’s unique and hip hop informed music has been championed by tastemakers like Gilles Peterson and Tom Ravenscroft (BBC 6 Music), Kutmah (NTS) and Jon K (Hoya:Hoya) leading to live performances alongside lauded artists like Jon Hopkins, MF DOOM, Samiyam, The Gaslamp Killer and Venetian Snare.
