Nite Jewel's 2012 album, One Second of Love, captivated listeners for its willingness to play in the fringes of pop; elements of dance and electronic music were warped and bent into something that was equal parts foreign and instinctual.

With Real High, Nite Jewel updates the feminine inner dialogue to reflect the increasing challenges of hyper-modern society, in particular with respect to selfhood. Within our current climate of heightened self -awareness, we become inhibited in our ability to truly lose ourselves to another person. This album offers one perspective on how it is to be vulnerable in these moments of tension.

The love song, for the artist, is not only about a relationship with another person, but also the love one has for oneself and one’s life, and one’s work. Real High looks into this paradigm, and finds more questions than answers.
